Formative

Want a quick way to get the pulse of your class? Use this online tool to ask a question and get the results. Students can type their answer, draw or submit images.

Google Forms

A simple way to see what your students know. Good for formative and summative assessment. Includes multiple choice, charts, True/False, and text answers. You can include images and Youtube videos within the assessment. Use Flubaroo to help you grade. You must be a G.A.F.E. school to use this.

Google Classroom

What!? Google Classroom is generally a content delivery platform that enables you to go paperless. But, it is also a great way to ask a formative assessment question. No need to make a formal quiz (though you can do that if you want) – just put your questions into the stream and watch your students express their thoughts. You must be a G.A.F.E. school to use this.

Kahoot!

Kahoot is a great in-class quizzing tool. It is delivered on a variety of devices and will give the teacher a good snapshot of student understanding – and it’s fun!

Poll Everywhere

Polleverywhere is a polling site. Students use laptops, tablets, or phones to input their answer. Works best with mobile devices. It is good for anonymous formative assessment. You can view results on your own laptop or display realtime bar graphs as students answer.

Plickers

Plickers is a great alternative to Poll Everywhere if your students do not have their own devices. You can even assess individuals or the class as a whole.
